Far away in a galaxy unnamed, an event of extreme significance has occurred. Under cosmic pressure of epic proportions, a star has collapsed, drawing within itself until it is gone. Then less than gone. Inside this colossal gate of nothingness, a Portal has appeared. It leads to a land of impossibility, a land where music has no boundaries, a land where genres can combine & come apart without resistance.

One of the most important discoveries is a genre of music unheard of, titled unofficially as "symphonic thrash prog". With harvesting this new found knowledge as its mission, a spaceship, the Spitfire II, jumped into The Portal 29 days ago. No contact has been made since. Was its mission successful? Is it doomed to drift in The Portal forever, never reaching its goal?

Now, another mission, comprised entirely of volunteers, has been approved. A new ship will jump into The Portal, discover the fate of Spitfire II, and return, for better or for worse.

You must lead this mission. I pray that your journey is fortuitous.

    Go now. Enter The Portal.

    Godspeed.
